5 Things I Love About My Father

All fathers are not perfect, but a cool papa does everything to win your heart. A father is a protector and savior in this physical world. He has a strong heart to carry on life's challenges. Lastly, he is the man God appointed to be the leader in a family.

What are the five things I love about my father?

In the Philippines, Filipino children call their fathers "tatay, papa, erpat, or daddy." In my whole life, I call him papa. I am his only daughter, and I can say that he and I are really look alike. Since when I was young, I really love to tell everything I feel and think of with my mama and papa. I hope that whatever I may share here may help you recognize your father's strengths despite his million flaws. I am also leaving these thoughts here to recognize all the fathers' hard work and sacrifices out there. June is Fathers' Month! Let me initiate the appreciation thingy for my papa.

1. He is Moreno.

We know that our fathers are our first boyfriend, our king, and our first kiss. What makes me fall in love with my Moreno boyfriend is because I love a man with brown skin as my father's. Moreno is a kind of skin complexion, which is more observed among Filipinos. (Trivia, I am a Filipina.)

2. He is a kind man.

A man is more transparent in terms of showing his genuine feelings rather than a woman. Once a man shows his kindness to others, it is not because he has other intentions but because he truly has a good relationship with his co-workers, friends, and family members. What I admire about my papa is how wide his understanding is before saying anything wrong with others. When I say he is kind, he is the most patient man I know, especially during difficult times. He is the one who makes me think of being in someone's shoes every time I fail to understand one's situation that most probably caused me inconvenience or disappointment. He is kind because he always teaches me to be a person who is slow to get mad instead of being fast to judge. This helps me to avoid making a decision that I might regret later.

3. He is the most supportive man.

I think he finds it purposeful when he serves me, like giving me a free ride going to my workplace or sending me home when my boyfriend is not available. He gives me pieces of advice that I can truly treasure all the days of my life, and I have the urge to pass it on to the next generation to continue the godly and righteous living. My family is not perfect, but we always try our best to obey God's will to enjoy life to the fullest.

4. He is my testimony.

Our life did not start as smoothly as the stories in Disney movies. My family and I went through different adversities in life, yet through God's grace, we have overcome those. The processes we took to be better people were really challenging. My papa is my living testimony that love conquers all. It's not all about the mistakes but the learnings he took to improve himself so he may take care of us. Also, his divine transformation having God in his side was a way to say to us that he will do anything just to make us complete and happy. Thank God for his unstoppable miracles!

5. He never gives up!

I always see the power of a man, a father, in a family. No matter how smart and brave the wife is, it will always be the man who will secure the family's emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs. The last thing  I love about my papa is he never gives up to fulfill all his obligations to us. I can sense that as long as he is breathing, he will always do his best to assure and take care of us whatever tomorrow brings.

Thank you for reading! Today is his birthday, and he is 55 years old! 06/07/2021
